Ken was young when he took to filmmaking, stealing his sister’s DSLR camera, making skateboard videos and forcing filmmaking projects into schoolwork wherever possible. Raised in Australia from Japanese and Chinese descent, he developed eclectic cinematic tastes being raised on Jackie Chan beat-em-ups, Hayao Miyazaki animations and Australian cult classics. He dove into film as soon as he could and found work as a documentary filmmaker working with brands like LinkedIn, MYOB and Google. Soon after, he transitioned into commercial filmmaking and now works as Lead Content Creator at Traffic Film Production. Here he aids in managing their post-production as well as shoots and directs TVC and digital content. He has collaborated with the likes of Nike, Olay and Chevrolet. In between all that, he busies himself with passion projects and his own narrative work, and will be shooting his first feature film with Kolperi Outback Filmmaking in 2023.
“I hold Kolperi Outback Filmmaking dear to my heart. I partook in the program midway through university and it affirmed that this industry was for me. It was very much a trial by fire. It was chaotic and unrelenting especially for how green I was at the time but I loved every second of it. It's throttled my handle over the film craft and moulded my current mentality as a storyteller. It’s no doubt played a massive hand in my career and continues to provide support and opportunities as I progress further down my filmmaking trajectory. "
